Root canal treatment; It is applied in cases where the vein-nerve package (pulp) in the innermost part of the tooth, which provides the vitality and nutrition of the tooth, is damaged, becomes non-renewable and loses its vitality (necrosis).
Root canal treatment is used in the treatment of pain, severe and long-lasting hot-cold sensitivity, tooth abscesses, accidental damaged and discolored teeth.
In this treatment, infected tissues are removed from the root canals, the canals are shaped, the canals are cleaned with antiseptic agents, and this gap is filled with biocompatible materials.
In case of being late for endodontic treatment, it may cause inflammation at the root tip of the tooth and damage to the jawbone in the future; Surgery or tooth extraction may be required.
The root canal treatment process can be painless thanks to the anesthesia techniques applied. The number of sessions is determined depending on the general health of the patient and the infection status of the tooth. Following this process, there may be mild pain in the teeth. This is a normal discomfort that occurs after root canal treatment. It can be considered as a temporary process. If pain , swelling occur, the dentist should be informed.
